Knut Avenstroup Haugen is a Hollywood Music in Media Award and International Film Music Critics Award winning, Nordic Film Composers Award and Amanda (Norwegian Film Awards) nominated composer. Knut is known for his soundtracks for games like Lords of the Fallen, Dune: Awakening, Conan Exiles and Age of Conan as well as the Louis & Luca film franchise – some of the most watched films of all time in Knut’s native country Norway.
Knut is known for his versatility, his ability to create iconic and unforgettable scores and his talent for assimilating other musical styles and traditions. Having studied composition, orchestration, piano and musicology in Norway and the Netherlands, his classical training and roots in the European orchestral repertoire are apparent in much of his work. Ranging from the most intimate and delicate compositions to massive orchestrations, from traditional music to jazz and synthesizer scores, Knut’s music for films and video games has received more than a dozen major international awards and nominations.
Knut has also composed music for grand occasions and events, like the World Ski Championships, the 200th Anniversary of the University of Oslo, the Oslo Opera Festival, the 200th Anniversary of Henrik Wergeland (Norway's national poet), the Anniversary of Edvard Munch, the HARPA - Nordic Film Composers Awards and the Norwegian Music Awards (Spellemannsprisen).
